He was also charged with two misdemeanors — possessing or keeping alcoholic beverages upon which imposed taxes have not been paid, and keeping, storing or possessing a still or distilling apparatus without a permit, the release said.
The charges are in connection to an active alcohol still discovered in the 400 block of Vicksburg Road while police were serving a search warrant on the property to shutdown a marijuana-growing operation, the release said.
Police called in ABC agents, who obtained a separate search warrant and seized a cooker hot plate, cooker pot, cooler coil and barrel, and bottles that were suspected to contain illegally distilled alcohol from Vanhoose’s property, according to the release.
Vanhoose was processed at Western Tidewater Regional Jail, where he is also facing drug-related charges in connection to the marijuana-growing operation. Two other men also have been charged in the marijuana-growing enterprise.
