South Africa once again scoops best brandy in the world
30 August 2012 by South African Brandy Foundation
South African brandy is experiencing a contemporary
Belle Epoque – an unprecedented golden era that is breaking all records.
Once more, a brandy from this country has received an
international standing ovation. Yet again, a premium brandy from the Distell
stable – Van Ryn’s Collection Reserve 12 Year – has scooped the title of
Worldwide Best Brandy at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC).
Apart from this being the sixth consecutive year that
a local brandy at this leading competition has taken its rivals to task, it is
also the fifth time that this sought-after trophy has been awarded to a Van
Ryn’s pot-still brandy (in 2008 and 2011, Van Ryn’s Collection Reserve 20 Year
took top honours).
