If you have oil refinery process engineering/crude distillation experience and love to hike, fish, hunt, 4-wheel, snow machine or ski the back-country, you may be the ideal candidate to join the Petro Star Valdez Refinery as a Process Engineer.
Overview:
Petro Star Valdez is the newest refinery in the United States with state of the art equipment, instrumentation and emission controls. The refinery processes 60,000 bpd of ANS crude and produces Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel, Commercial Jet Fuel, Military JP-8 and JP-5 Jet Fuel, Marine Diesel, Home Heating Oil, Turbine Fuel. Recent modifications include addition of a 12,000 bpd Distillate Hydrotreater, Hydrogen Plant and Sulfur Recovery Unit. Valdez, Alaska is a historic community of approximately 4,500 people located on the northwest side of Prince William Sound. Few places offer the majesty of the Chugach Mountains rising from the water, or the diversity of activities to be found in a seaside mountain town. Position:
Process Engineer provides daily operations support, technical guidance/expertise and troubleshooting for refinery engineering group and plant operations. Monitor daily efficiencies and coordinate market demands with refinery production. Participate in development of plant processes and work with operators, lab technicians and maintenance personnel to improve safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness of process units and systems. Evaluate written work orders for completeness. Review laboratory tests to ensure product meets quality specifications. Participate in planning, scope and capital budgeting for major and minor refinery construction projects. Participate in gathering information related to feasibility and completeness for MOC’s. Further participate in distribution of documents and filings for capital projects and MOC’s. Assist with reporting on safe, legal disposal of any and all substances considered hazardous waste. Hands-on role in team environment.
Education and Requirements:
BS Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field of study from an accredited four-year university. Need at least five years of experience in refinery of similar size or in a consulting role working with refineries. Demonstrate well-rounded knowledge in above outlined areas. Should have experience with Crude Distillation Units, Distillate Hydrotreater, Hydrogen Plant and Sulfur Recovery Units. Must be able to troubleshoot and offer practical solutions in refinery operations and processes. Need strong communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff and management. Must pass DOT/PHMSA pre-employment drug test and occupational health exam. Requires valid Alaska driver’s license or ability to obtain if relocating. Process Engineer must reside in Valdez area and be able to respond to emergencies within reasonable period of time. NOT a rotational position.
