Five Wives are one, maybe two, too many for Idaho

The maker of Five Wives Vodka, a Utah distiller, has one less state to sell its spirits in as Idaho officials have banned the brand.

A very bright and astute Idaho official, Jeff Anderson, said in an Associated Press story that the implication of polygamy, which the brand name implies, is too sensitive to Idaho’s Mormon population and that it might offend them.

Of course the drinking of any alcohol is forbidden in the Mormon faith, but apparently only the alcohol brands with goofy polygamy names are offensive to Idaho Mormons.

I guess Utah Mormons have a sense of humor?

Yet this all begs the question, why hasn’t Idaho not banned the – Forty Virgins, Mother $^%@! – single malt Scotch?

Is it that America must do more to end bigotry? Only an hour long news entertainment program can give us that answer.
